Description
Folk Art O/B JAMES EARL RAY Seascape Anna Sandhu Ray C-O-A Look at this ! Don't miss it! This is an original painting done and signed by the hand of James Earl Ray. He was the man convicted in the assassination of African American Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., which took place on April 4, 1968As you can see, it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (C-O-A), signed by Anna Sandhu Ray and notarized in the State of TennesseeAfter his conviction, James spent the rest of his life in a Federal Prison, where he met and married Anna Sandhu Ray (a Court painter), the one who issued and signed the Affidavit attached to the back. Nowadays, his conviction is regarded as very doubtful by many, including King's family, whose son Dexter after having several meetings with the felon, strongly believes that Ray did not shot his famous father, or at least he was not alone (leads to a probable conspiracy). Who knows? This case sunk in obscurity since the very beginning and every subsequent attempt to be re-vitalized was strictly denied. Obviously Temida wasn't completely blind and some "Supreme interests" took over the common justiceWhile in custody, until his death in 1997, James Ray wrote several books and started to paint in a distinctive primitivist, naivist, outsider or folk art manner, and this is one of his oeuvresThe oil on canvas/board painting itself is a landscape depicting two sailboats at sundown - nice shot For more information on Ray, please visit this Wikipedia page, and the links below it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Earl_RayMeasurements: Approx. 12" x 10" framed, 7.5" x 5.5" the sightCondition: Excellent overallPlease e-mail us for additional photos or information that can give you a better idea about this beautiful piece We Will Combine Shipping When Possible For Your Convenience!
