One of South Bend, Indiana's best-known landscape painters of the 20th century, George Ames Aldrich became most associated with richly painted impressionist landscapes with water of Brittany and Normandy. This painting is in the original wood compo, gilded frame. Provenance: I purchased it at a high end estate sale in Richmond, VA. The painting has been part of my private collection for a number of years. The painting has minor touch ups, I have included a before photo (last one) to show the minor flakes that have been touched up. It has been cleaned and relined and is absolutely beautiful. Ames most likely painted this c.1890's while a member of the Academie in Paris.
