The larger Kalagas have always related a story about famous folklore heroes, minor and major deities or royal life in the old Kingdom of Burma.  This story is about the prince who would become the monk known as Buddha.  The Prince, designated from birth as someone special, decides to renounce his throne and become a monk.  Hearing of this, his loyal subjects surrounded his palace preventing his leaving.  In the center of the Kalaga shows several angels from heaven lifting his horse up over the palace walls allowing his escape. Note the beautiful jewel tone colors in the figures and surrounding needle work is all done by hand in the traditional style.  The elaborate design uses decorative threads, silver/bronze sequins and glass stones found only on finest quality Kalagas.  Again note the elaborate needled work on the two figures below that decorated each side of the Kalaga.   This is a special work of art that you will treasure for many years to come. The approximate size is 38" high by 56" wide. Finished with Thai silk, the Kalaga has loops at the top for hanging.
