This pre-1900 oil on canvas Impressionist portrait depicts an innocent time of days gone by. While mom takes great care to wash the family's clothes in the fresh running river, two of the young children enjoy the refreshing cool water pooled up in front of a rock dam, while the third steadies himself on a log set up like a seesaw. The canvas was not relined, yet was restretched due to old unstable stretchers & loose canvas, the frame is modern as well, there was an artist tape used along the edge of the old canvas for restretching purposes to preserve this painting for many generations to enjoy. There is some crazing throughout & the painting could use a cleaning if you wanted to bring out some of the vivid whites. This painting is very rare & unique in every detail!!
