  (ALL REASONABLE OFFERS SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED.)   LAWRENCE CALCAGNO "Earth Constellation 1996", circa 1966   An Abstract Expressionism landscape by Lawrence Calcagno (1913-1993).  Calcagno loaned this piece to the Smithsonian Institution from April 27, 1966 to June 19, 1966 for the exhibition "American Landscape: A Changing Frontier", honoring the US National Park Service.  The Smithsonian Institution exhibit tag with catalog number and exhibition dates is attached on the reverse of the painting (see photo).  Title:  "Earth Constellation 1996", circa 1966 Artist:  Lawrence Calcagno (1913 - 1993), American Medium:  Oil on Canvas Artist Signature:  Back, Upper Left Hand Corner Dimensions:  Unframed:  70 inches tall x 57 1/2 inches wide. Framed:  71 inches tall x 58 1/2 inches wide. The painting is framed in the minimalist/modern style of the 1960s abstracts.  Condition: Overall very good condition.  Painting is clean with no paint loss (see photos).     Listed in Davenport, Askart, Artprice, and Artnet. About the Artist: Lawrence Calcagno was born on March 23, 1913 in San Francisco, and died in 1993 at the age of 80.  He began painting at the age of 19. Calcagno studied at the California School of Fine Art in San Francisco, Academie de la Grande Chaumiere, Paris Institute d'Arte Statale Floreiree.  After serving in WW2, he painted in Paris under the G.I. Bill. Calcagno began to show in San Francisco, Taos, Hawaii, and New York as part of the second generation of Abstract Expressionist painters or "The New York School".
