The painting tells a story great conversation piece As well as the photos appear comparatively the painting in person is much more formidable and provocative in it appearance. The painting represents allegory, mythology, religion, love, lust, marriage and family. The maiden voyage or voyage depicts various stages of life’s voyage for peace, spirituality, faith in god, love, marriage and family. I believe it to be French origin; the painting is Exceptional quality, finely detailed, beautiful vivid colors. The ocean is deep blue NOT brownish green, which appears to be in the photos APPROX. In Addition, The firm Janentzky and Weber on the orig., label on the orig. stretcher dates from between the early 1870's to 1887. Janentzky retired after 1887 and the company name was changed to F.Weber And Company. The frame is the not the orig. period frame. The frame is made of wood; gold gilded and ornately carved. The condition of the painting and the frame are excellent. The painting bares no signature. The painting was professional relined, cleaned and restored around circa 1900`S this is why it is in such excellent condition it was well maintained. THE PAINTING HAS BEEN VIEWED UNDER A UV BLACK LIGHT. THERE IS VERY MINIMAL OLD RESTORATION FOR TOUCH UPS LESS THEN 5 % OF 100% PAINTING IS ORIGINAL, NONE OF THE FIGURES IN THE PAINTING WERE TOUCHED.
