Day was a commercial artist and although we cannot state as fact from researching we found similarities of this piece to what would be illustrated in a newspaper. This is a very nice Wood burning the old mans face is so detailed with wrinkles leaning on the table with his pipe in his hand and the little girl playing cards with him has a lovely face throwing down her card. The cards have color which makes them stand Out on the table. The artist signed the piece on the right it is hard to see but is in the corner of the table . There is a CAPTION saying FORTUNE: You Are Going On A long Journey . As if the little girl is pretending to read the old mans fortune. Also there is a label from the framers from Columbus Ohio and some writing appears to be a name and address on the back .
